back in 2002 I bought a brand new gold megatone 2b from band central station in gainesville , fl. I can't find anything on the internet about this mouthpiece ever being available. Does anyone know where I might find one of these? Thanks!

a Bach 2b? If it even exists it's an incredibly rare piece..even rarer in the megatone format. I don't doubt it exists...but the most popular models are the 2C, 2.5c, 2 3/4c, and 2.

I'd waste no time contacting anyone else and contact the Bach Factory and see if and when they even made this piece...I'm sure they would have a record.

Mouthpiece Express doesn't even offer it.

1B and 3B, yes.

I'm assuming that your 2B mouthpiece is not a Bach and a generic megatone copy. Have you contacted the store that sold it for information?

You might try to figure out the size of the mouthpiece and get a comparably sized Bach megatone.

What's the sound like on that 1.5B?

Not sure how different it would be, but if you move to the Megatone 3B you'll be in good company.

Thomas is on record as saying he used a Bach. Several web sites including Wikipedia support that. Perhaps he's changed but I've not seen it said.

Schagerl makes similar looking pieces that both Hans Gansch and James Morrison have used.

Hello! Sorry for the delay. Yes I have a picture of me with it somewhere back in high school band 03. I either bought it from band central station when it existed in Gainesville FL or wwbw.com I honestly can't remember that part. It was definitely a Bach megatone in gold though, I had the box for nearly 15years until it got lost in a move. Wish I hadn't gotten rid of it of that piece. Now I'm playing a callet dt10 which I also need to replace soon, someone dropped it and scratched the rim. :/

Since there’s never been a Bach size 2B, it could only have existed as a custom order. So, if you want another one, you’d have to custom order it.

Are you positive it wasn’t a 2, 2C, 2-1/2C, 2-3/4C, or 3B?

I was talking about the horn not the mouthpiece. But now we are talking about the mouthpiece James Morrison has been using a Schagerl Apredato for quite some time.

I'm positive it was a 2B. I did not order it custom, pretty sure I got it from band central station off the shelf bc I bought it the same time I bought my LR180S43G and then later got a heavy gold trim kit for the horn from wwbw. Was a great sounding setup. Oh well thanks for the advice I guess.

Understood about the horn. I've played both briefly. The horn was really different but intriguing. The mouthpiece didn't make too much of an impression either way.
