Anyone had the chance of trying the newest Monette mouthpieces? From what I can gather, it has the characteristics of a Monette mouthpiece, but looks like a traditional Bach style mouthpiece.
I would think that would be a big seller. _________________ Brent |

You're pretty spot on with your description. I've played on these and they maintain all the benefits of the Prana mouthpieces, but the new blank offers more feedback to the player, and maybe the ability to "light up" the sound a little more, IMHO. It's a really incredible cross between a Monette Prana and a really great Bach mouthpiece. _________________ Jesse McBee

Hello Friends,
Where can one learn about these new mouthpieces? I just checked the Monette website and saw nothing. Of course, I could have missed it.
Many thanks,

2 questions for those who’ve tried...
What’s the throat? Are they Bach length or shorter? |

If anything, it's good marketing for Monette.
It gives players a chance to use Monette mouthpieces while avoiding some of the negative feedback they can come with.

Will send my thoughts when I get it. Hopefully this weekend. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

I'm not certain about the throat size, but they are a shorter shank design. _________________ Jesse McBee

But you have to figure that mailing time into the initial player feedback _________________ 1938 Martin Handcraft Imperial #2 bore, 38 bell

Initial thoughts....
1). Solid bottom end. Wow. Playing low C, is like starting a Harley up. That's awesome. Was really surprised, in a good way by that. I didn't get that feeling going up the register, however. Anything after middle C felt good but not earth shattering. I did notice crispness in my notes when I played some scales, and solid tones, but that's probably also the new mouthpiece feel.
Does it play / sound better then a Bach 3C? After doing a quick comparison with one that I have, my Wife (as the judge) thought so.
For this style of Monette, I actually think I would benefit going one cup larger than the size 6 that I bought. This one seems a little small to me. The rim is very Bach like, and that's not why I buy Monette.
2). The rim (in my opinion) feels much sharper and is very similar to a Bach, which I'm not a fan of.
3). Can I just say it's really wierd seeing a Monette look like a Bach???
Overall, is this a Bach mouthpiece killer? Yeah, I think these will be a huge hit. A felt like a played better with the Monette than on the Bach 3C.
Please keep in mind, I play primarily on a Monette Resonance Prana B6DS1. This is my go to and has been for years. The rim is in Bach/Curry 3 range, but has a very deep cup (pretty much like a Bach/Curry 3B) and the Monette trademark large throat. The reason why I love this mouthpiece is the rim. It is on the flatter side and feels like a pillow. I get a rim that's not huge for me, with all the benefits of a huge mouthpiece sound. Would I switch to a tradition plus MP? No. But I would play a T Plus over a Bach. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

Right on!
Thanks for the review. I became very curious after seeing that you'd listed it in the marketplace. Considering you play Prana pieces, that makes sense.
I wonder if your experience going up the register (as outlined in point number 1) has anything to do with them being made to be used on either Bb or C. _________________ -Tom Hall-

Yes, I knew right away it wasn’t the right size for me, and I should have went with a 3 instead of a 6. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

I was curious until I got to the shipping options-FedEx 3 day for $28 or Express 2 day for $38. What is wrong with USPS Priority for about $8? I use it constantly to ship GR mouthpieces and have never had a single problem. Or even standard FedEx ground would cost half of their lowest price and maybe take a day longer? At least give us the option.... _________________ Scott Apelgren
