I guess it depends a lot on the trumpet... Not only on the mouthpiece...
I own a curry TF, and it sounds good and mellow on my lightweight, quite brilliant sounding trumpets, but nothing compared to my shepherds crook cornet with a proper deep piece... Imagine the difference compared to a flugel.
