Getzen Capri C trumpet

Does anybody have any information on the Getzen Capri c trumpets? For whatever reason I am having a very difficult time finding anything about them online. I just picked one up and would love to know more about it. What I do know is that it was made around 1970 and that is about it. Any information is appreciated.

I have two of them and like them a lot. I have both a lacquer one from the 80's and another that is silver-plated from the 70's. They are both in near-mint condition. The silver one is better, but they are both very good.

I have one I got as a senior in high school in 1968.
Mine is a little beat up but even today it still playable. However, if you are in a section of Bach or Yamahas, it may not blend very well. They also don't play well in tune unless you really use the 1st valve trigger and 3rd valve slide.
When I was playing in a good local orchestra, I could not get it to blend with the Bachs in the section and bought a Bach. That was in 2003.
It does make a nice solo horn for church or other work like that and for an inexpensive C trumpet, they aren't bad.

My college trumpet teacher, Steve Chenette, used one playing 1st trumpet with the Minnesota Orchestra in, I believe the 1969-70 season. Prior to that the section was playing custom Schilke C7 with the exception of the 4th player playing a Bach Vindabona C. Of course, as principal, the section had to blend with him.

The intonation of my two is remarkable, especially the lacquer one. In fact, it has the best intonation of any C trumpet I have ever played. Perhaps it's the mouthpiece combination with it. I use a Stork Vacchiano 1.5C-E with it.

Question: What is the functional difference between the Eterna C and the Capri C? I know the Eterna is marketed as the "Professional" model and the Capri is supposed to be the "Intermediate" model. But what is the difference in terms of sound, intonation, mechanics, and ergonomics? I'd love to hear from someone who has played both.

The Eterna is on the brighter side while the Capri sound is darker. I attribute that to the differences in bell shape, and the fact that the Eterna has nickel inner slides.

The Capri bell more closely resembles a Bach 239 shape. It's been a few years since I've played either one and don't recall the pitch tendencies.

Capri trumpets/cornet/flugelhorns usually come with 1st slide triggers, however my Capri C being decades old had a thumb saddle.

If I'm not mistaken, the Eterna C was large bore while the Capri was medium large.

There's not much to be found online since the Capri C has been discontinued. Perhaps others will chime in with more information.

I had an old Eterna C come through the shop recently. After extensive work, I tested it and the intonation was excellent - better than many Bach C's I've played.

Also had another interesting trumpet come through that I had never seen before; a Schilke C8. It had very good intonation and a sort of French-type sound, pointed.

Also, what vintage is the Schilke C8? How old is it?

Yes, there seems to be very little information abut the Capri C trumpets on the Internet. I cannot even find the model or catalog number for it. I assume it was given a 5xx number.

Jim, the Eterna C came in both ML and L bore. If it wasn't marked then it was the ML model.
