I’ve been playing on a Bach 3C that I bought new for some time now. I was just sort of experimenting and decided to try a Bach 3C that came with my horn when I bought it used. I cleaned it up, and after playing it, realized that it was a lot shallower than the piece I bought. The two are otherwise identical, aside from some wear on the used one. Is this a misprinted mouthpiece of a different size, or have 3C’s changed over time? Maybe I’m going crazy.
Appreciate any help I can get.

The Bach 3C has, indeed, changed quite a bit over time. Also, there is enough discrepancy in the manufacturing process that different copies of the same size will be a little bit different. This was true in the past more so than it is today.

I, too, have found certain Bach 3c's that I like a lot better than other ones.

HA

The Bach 7C s are REALLY different from NY to Mt Vernon to later. I have a Bach New York I use for vintage Olds cornets with the larger stem that sings, it has an "O" on the shaft designation for the Olds larger shaft. Really nice, the later ones a very different cup rim and bowl.......
