Karl Pilss Trumpet Concerto

All of you know about the Sonata for trumpet & piano from Austrian composer Karl Pilss, wrote for Helmut Wobisch. There is a Trumpet Concerto too, wrote for Wobilsch's teacher. Anyone know where to find the score ( and recording, if existing...) ?

That would be really cool...if you find it do post it here. I played his sonata for my Jr. Recital and really really enjoyed it. I'd love to find a concerto by him!

I'd like to know about this too (never seen reference to it)

Simon Wright, the terrific conductor/pianist/organist that John Wallace used to play with, was considering orchestrating the Trumpet Sonata a few years ago (it would sound much like R. Strauss). I'm not certain that he got permission to do so, however.

I would go to a good sheet music shop. Amsterdam isn't really close, but Broekmans & van Poppel have a very good service, also online. Though in their online sales catalogue they only mention the sonate, I'm sure they'll be able to dig out the concerto if anyone can. There may be excellent shops near Munich too, but I'm not familiar there.

Thanks for the posts,

I found, that there exists the reduction of the concerto for piano and trumpet, and that is available here in Munich in the shop from Koebl. Somehow, I found that Robert King had this too.

Sure enough, Robert King lists a Concerto for Trumpet and Piano by K. Pilss. I just ordered it, I'll let y'all know what I think when it gets here.

I found my old copy of the Pliss Concerto. It is Universal Edition No. 10.786. The piano reduction was done by the composer. Herrn Professor Franz Dengler, Solo-Trompeter derWiener Philharmoniker, gewidmet is on the first page above the title.
I can't find the trumpet part

Then, if I decide to play the concerto, the Universal Edition Office in Wien should have the score and parts. I can email you the trumpet part, if you don't find it any more

Ok, The score is any problem. About the recording, it's very difficult, if Wobisch hadn't recorded it, then nobody did it.

I got the cocnerto and have been playing through it for the last couple of days. I quite like it! It has lyricism and form reminiscient of his Sonata. My first impression was that the craftsmanship wasn't quite as subtle. There's more technique to the piece as well, lots of bouncing 16ths with lots of flats that will trade back and forth with the piano (orchestra). The dialogue writing is different too, more reminiscent of the ripieno/solo dialogue in a classical concerto than the continuous interplay found in the sonata. I would really like to hear a recording, but I don't think that's possible, so I'll have to wait until I can put it together with a pianist; I will most likely program it for my Sr. Recital as well as using it for MM audiitions, all in the Spring. From what I can tell hacking through it, it's a nice piece. I'm becoming quite the fan of Pilss and may have to check out his quintet works when my quintet starts up again in the fall. If anybody finds any more info or recordings of it, let us all know!

I once heard it performed it by Mike Tunnell. I heard he later developed
Karl Pilss Tunnell Syndrome.
