Hi there!

Whoever is familiar with MF style mouthpieces and played both pieces mentioned in the topic - may you tell me a little bit about the differences between the two? (overall feeling, sound quality, response, resistance,...)

Thanks a lot and best to you all,
Markus

Send Lynn a PM here on Trumpet Herald. He's very accessible and is usually willing to talk mechanics be it related to the protocol or equipment he advocates.

My two cents ... The Lynn Personal mouthpiece has a longer shank and I believe a #19 throat if I remember correctly. It also has a tad wider inner diameter than the Pickett piece. The Pickett/Ingram Reproduction piece is an exact duplicate of MF's 1950's Calicchio piece which Lynn named the "Holy Grail." The Pickett piece has a shorter shank and #24 drill.

I sold my Pickett/Ingram reproduction piece mainly because I have a Lynn Nicholson Monette Prana piece; a 1960's MF Monette Classic piece and the Lynn Nicholson Personal piece. I also have a James R New Jim Manley piece (#23 drill) that plays similiar to the Nicholson Personal piece but with a short shank and also a Patrick MF 1 (#23 drill ) that plays in that realm as well.

How they "feel" is going to be up to the player. Hope this helps in some way.

I reached out to Lynn and received a very thoughtful and helpful reply in record time.
I'm impressed with his kindness and will report once I get the equipment.
