I'm excited and honored to announce that I have accepted a position as Clinical Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. I'll still be living in New Albany, IN (greater Louisville, KY), but I will be spending a few days in Champaign-Urbana most weeks.

Congratulations, Pat. From one great legacy to another. (school music programs).

BTW, what is a Clinical Professor? I've only seen clinical used for teachers in a medical context. Thanks

My guess is that "clinical" means he won't be teaching students individually, but rather more like what we might call a "consultant" in the private industry?

Actually, most of my load will be private jazz trumpet students. I think the clinical designation is like what some US schools call a "teaching professor" with the emphasis of my appointment on teaching, rather than service, research and creative activity.

Great news for Illini trumpet students! I'm still benefiting from things Pat showed me at the half dozen or so Jamey Jazz workshops I attended in Louisville.

Thanks again, Pat!
