I have been messing around with a Curry 3C and like it a lot. I am wondering if anyone has experiences with the Bach style vs. the Standard blank.

I have both, and I don't detect any difference when playing them, except that the Bach-style piece looks better with my Bach trumpet, so it lives in the case with the Bach. The regular Curry blank lives in the case with the King.

Yes, Jon.. I do.. and if your the Dayton area Jon Arnold, PM me (you know me by a different name .. ) - I can let you try some other blanks. I didn't like the Bach blank nearly as much nor the BlackJack blank. I think there is a definite difference in response and tone-most noticeable in performance / rehearsal settings, not so much in the practice room.

I prefer the standard blank that Curry makes.. Outside of the 3BC which has some other differences and a Bach style blank.

I've tried them all and the only variation I seem to like better is a 3C cut for a Warburton style 2 piece (cut my mouthpieceexpress.com).. BUT I'm not 100% convinced. I do bounce back to the standard blank at times.

Does MP Express cut those cups/backbores or does Mark do them? I like the Curry standard blank for most playing, but I've found that the slightly lighter profile of the 2-piece designs work really well with the shallower cups. I assume the throats are a little narrower too?

Mark does his own backbores. Of course, once they leave his shop they are fair game for mods. I have a few of his tops and they have the standard #27 drill throats.

I personally use the Bach blank on my Curry mouthpieces. I really do not like heavier blanks, and the Bach-style blanks put the resistance where I need it. It's a slight difference, but I definitely notice it.

I own a 3BC and 3C., the former comes stock with the Bach blank as someone else stated. The 3C. has the standard curry blank and to be honest I think I prefer the normal curry blank, but they are different mouthpieces I'd be interested in trying the 3C. In the Bach blank. The biggest difference between the two i notice more than anything is the larger throat/backbore on the 3BC.
