Can anyone tell me the difference between a Curry 11/2 C and a Curry 11/2 Z trumpet mouthpiece. I would appreciate your input.

Well, read the description on Curry's web site for starters...

The nice thing about Mark's pieces is that the rim will feel the same between the two.. The Z cup is going to be very shallow in comparison along slightly smaller throat size and different flair (backbore) - I would say that these fall into the range of "specialized" pieces. As he notes, for pure lead or high piccolo playing.

I would say that if you're looking for a zippier sound with the same rim - try the 1 1/2 * (star) first... likewise DE for picc, or M for D/Eb or just a brighter tone.
I have the complete line-up of his pieces in the 3 series. Love them.. Z & Zs are WAY to shallow for me. The star cup works great for me, Big Band-section and lead, Shows and any other commercial work

Here's a description of all Marks cups. Unlike Bach, every 1.5 keeps the same rim regardless of cup shape.
