Lube Master Trumpet Mouthpieces Have Arrived!!!
https://www.monsteroil.net/lube-master-trumpet-mouthpiece/
What do you get when you combine the best components of history's most storied and famous mouthpieces with crap tons of time, money, and testing? ...a blown mind, and a mouthpiece that you'll never want to stop playing. We're professional trumpet nerds on multiple levels, and this is what we do: try hard to make the world's best products, and the world's worst lube jokes. We offer you these mouthpieces three, and all are worthy of their moniker: Lube Master.
Philosophy: make the perfect version of "holy grail" mouthpieces that need no modification and are ready to plug and play right away.
Approach: We have relied heavily on Vincent Bach's Mt. Vernon designs throughout this process. Now if you know anything about Mt. Vernon mouthpieces, you probably know that none of them feel quite alike. We've purchased a good number of Mt. Vernon mouthpieces in support of this project, and can confidently say that if you played a dozen Mt. Vernon 1C mouthpieces they will all play differently. This is why our search to find a "grail" has been frustrating...
So what we've done is sorted through all of this and combined the best characteristics of the very best Mt. Vernons into one mouthpiece that needs no modification. Here they are:
One
This is our orchestral mouthpiece. Anybody who plays anything between a 1C and 1.25C, or even 1.5C will love this mouthpiece. It is efficient and plays with a huge sound, but without feeling like a lot of work. We have blind-tested this mouthpiece against the very best Mt. Vernon 1Cs and 1.25Cs, and it wins hands down every time. If you're looking for a "holy grail" Mt. Vernon 1C that simply works...this is it.
Three
The Mt. Vernon 3C is one of the most famous mouthpieces in history, and for good reason. Unfortunately not all of them are amazing. In our searching, we found one that...well, was amazing!—but it played a little "off," as many old mouthpieces do. So we had it scanned and reproduced, and it maintained all of the amazing qualities while cleaning up some of the inconsistencies from being an old mouthpiece. This is a plug-and-play holy grail Mt. Vernon 3C. ...As far as playability, it plays like a big 3C. Anybody who plays between 1.25C up through 3C will love this.
Lead
Full disclosure: none of the three of us is a lead player. Fortunately, we have friends who are incredible professional lead players...and they're giving this mouthpiece amazing reviews. The thing that seems to have made the difference is the blank. Some blanks seem way too light, creating a thin sound, and some are way too heavy, which limits the overtones. Ours is a traditional Bach-style blank, which seems to be a perfect fit. This is a West Coast-style mouthpiece with a wide rim diameter and shallow cup. The throat and backbore are engineered to get plenty of zip, but the blank keeps it from getting too thin.
These are available now! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Much love,

We are not releasing exact specs because we feel as though they can be misleading. These are mouthpieces that aren't designed to be altered. We have spent a significant amount of time optimizing all specs so they work together.
What do you mean by ID choice? We are only offering three mouthpieces to start with. We are not taking the typical route of mouthpiece companies, with several cups, rims, backbores, and blanks that you can mash together a million different ways. We think some players want something they can buy off the shelf that just works.
Best,

hello Tom
ok, i understand you, but when i read "lead" mouthpiece and have no description, at least saying something like "around a 10 1/2 or Shew lead inner diam.", it doesn't incitate me to order it..

Good point, inner rim diameter is 17.3mm. It plays like popular wide-ish, shallow lead pieces.

ok thanks.
Just a suggestion, 17.30mm is not a current ID used by lead players, and will be considered a too large ID by many of us lead players...
I doubt you'll sell many of them.
Anyway, good luck to you, and many thanks for the very good videos you share.

Can you give an example with similar rim size feel (make & model) as your LEAD.

There are many lead players who play this size. I understand it's not for everybody though.

The Schilke 14a4a and Marcinkiewicz Chuck Findley are similar. Also Reeves 43W.
But again, this is where specs are misleading. It is a wide ID, but the shape of the rim is everything. Any lead players who like rims on the larger side are going to love this. I've heard some amazing players make ridiculous sounds on this mouthpiece. _________________ www.MonsterOil.net

For anyone's reference, 17.30 mm is around a .681 inch diameter. Depending upon where the inner diameter measurement is, that should actually be in the ballpark of a Schilke 14a4a or Reeves 43, as they said.
Relying on the feel is a good idea, but it can also be deceiving, just as the measurements. It's going to take the process of someone's face getting the hang of anything to make sure it's working. That's not a quick thing, but it also shouldn't seem like an impossible task at first. Somewhere in the middle - hopefully closer to the end of being functional - is at least where someone would want to be.
I switched to a .618 inch diameter a few months ago, and my initial impression is that it feels bigger than the .630 diameter I was playing for several years.
That said, the 17.3 diameter is going to satisfy a lot of players' needs, since 14a4a and Reeves 43 models are pretty widely used; but it's also going to be out of the ballpark for a lot of us. For me, that's not even remotely in the same league as far as inner diameter size goes, but it's important to remember that many of us (like me) are playing on specialized mouthpieces, in very specific diameters, with very specific cups, etc.
While I always like to see some variety in fitting sizes, having a lot of models is an inventory nightmare. Warburton has probably the biggest production-line series of mouthpieces, and they're a lot more organized than I am, when it comes to keeping something like that together. Those guys deserve a beer, and the Monster Oil guys deserve a good scotch. I'm gathering something more mature than 21 year is in order. _________________ Chris King
