|
|
I use Hetman's on one horn and I have some Yamaha supplied oil with my Shew. Yesterday, I doused the Shew in Hetman's by mistake. It just hit me. Are they the same-based oils that can be used interchangeably or do I need to extra-clean the Hetman's off before adding more Yamaha?
Basic, stupid question but I thought I'd ask. Thanks. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

I've been told by someone at Yamaha that they are virtually the same formula. Ive mixed both and never had problems. |

Don't do any cleaning, and report on the results!
There won't be any damage even if the aren't compatible.

It might be just me, but I find that Hetman oils haven't had too many adverse reactions when used in combination with other synthetic oils. And I would say the Yamaha and Hetman oils are very similar in their formula |

Just to play devil's advocate for a minute ... does anyone have first-hand knowledge of this issue? Has anyone here actually witnessed an adverse reaction from combining two valves oils? If I mix Al Cass with Hetman, will anything bad happen? Just wondering if this is a precautionary practice, or if there's a real issue here.

Al Cass + Hetmans + my saliva cause no problems in any of several horns. That doesn't prove the case for all mixtures, but is a data point. _________________ Getzen Eterna 700, Eterna 800
