Good afternoon,
I have a question for the conn experts on the forum
I received in the mail a horn I bought off of eBay... advertised as a early model 6b , which I understood had a traditional wrap and a big bell.
When I received it , it has the small bell , is this a 22b or did the 6b have the small bell in 1955?
I was really looking forward to playing a 6b with the big bell....im very disappointed but I don't want to reach out to the seller if this really is a 6b and I didn't know what I was buying.

After taking a close look at the Conn loyalist sight I am very confident they sent me a 22b and not a 6b, in addition to the bell, the valves are different as well as the Nickel trim is different and everything on this trumpet points to a 22b.
I know music shops are struggling but this isn't the horn I was looking for... _________________ Jason

I believe those early ones had Victor “B” stamped onto the side of the receiver/leadpipe. As far as I know, they were basically a 22B with different nickel trim, different receiver shape, and a larger bell flare. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

What is the diameter of the bell?
What does the receiver look like? If it has the extra little bump it’s prob a 6b with a 22b bell replacement. If the receiver does not have the little bump about 1 inch from the end then it’s a pure 22b _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

thanks for the responses!
the bell is 4 5/8 ths no bump on the lead pipe....it looks exactly like the 1955 22b on the conn loyalist website , until you mentioned the bump on the lead pipe I never noticed the difference in receivers, thanks again for reinforcing that this is in fact a 22b...
honestly it plays REALLY nicely..Im considering keeping it anyway
BUT I really want a 6b....ugh _________________ Jason

I was texting with an old friend who is a well know tpt player about trumpets we would never sell. For me it is my Super Recording. For him it was his 1956 6b. _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. You'd better put a horn in the way before someone gets hurt. |

I have a 1960 6B Victor, still almost like new. I recently sold both my 22Bs, a 1929 NYS and a 1968 Victor. I kept the best trumpet out of those 3. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |
