I've got an old Bach long model cornet stamped "26-62" on the bell. I know the "62" means .462" bore size but what are the characteristics of the 26 bell?
Thanks!

An usual configuration! Bach was known for his experimentation of various bells and etc. I suppose your cornet is a NY era cornet.
Bach 26 trumpet that sold some years ago...

I actually own a late 30s NY Bach trumpet with 26-59 on the bell. I was at BachFest 2017 and they showed the original bell mandrel book. Bach labelled the 26 bell as French American sound with notes(I believe): great sound, ok intonation, etc.
Interesting to see it on a cornet!
(P.S. Actually thinking about letting that go soon) _________________ Victor
