Hi everybody!
Hope you're all well in this unprecedented times.
I'm looking for a mouthpiece with a smaller inner diameter (.640" or .650") with a deep bowl shaped cup.
Any reccomendations? _________________ -------------------------------------------

I play a Roy Steven's mouthpiece. It's dimensions are .654 diameter rim and a .417 depth. This mouthpiece is similar to a Bach 10 1/2C but has a slightly larger diameter and slightly shallower depth and wider more comfortable rim. _________________ Anthony Memoli |

Bach 6B ? It is not as "V shaped" as the other B cups.
The 8 1/2 C is very bowl shaped. So you could look at the Curry line, maybe get a Curry 8 1/2 B, since his B cup is really a deep C cup. |

This may sound too obvious, but have you tried a Bach 7C. It's actually pretty deep for a bowl shape. If you want deeper you start getting into more V/funnel shape cups like a Bach 5B. Another approach could be the Curry TC cup, but again more funnel shaped.

I also like narrow but deep. Along with the Bach 7C and GR65LX or L, the Monette B6DS1 is another great choice if the wallet allows. _________________ Thane Standard Large Bb / Monette Unity B6-7M mpc

Every mouthpiece maker seems to have their own way of measuring the ID.
What specific mouthpiece is it that you want to replace with one of 'smaller ID' and 'deep bowl' (deeper than what?).

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

My impression is that this is what the Bach 10 1/2 C is for, right? Mine has a small diameter and a deep cup (small letters). _________________ Yamaha 8310Z trumpet

I played a Bach 7A for quite some time in college with small group jazz and brass quintet. It took a while to get used to but I really liked the sound and it sounded fine in recordings too. Dark sound but not "dull", just a clear dark sound. I've moved on to different pieces now but it might be something for you to check out.
Kind regards

Depends on the sound you're after, and things like back-pressure, flexibility, etc.
I play a Reeves that I got from them that is a 42/64"/ .656" and has a hybrid shape between a Cup and a V-shape. My eyesight won't let me focus on it, but I believe it's a 42D2. If you're interested, you should check with them, though.
The purpose was to keep it as close to a Purviance 5*K4 that I had been playing but darken the sound. It does that beautifully without dulling the sound.
BTW, I don't consider a .656" small. Ray Triscari gave me a mouthpiece once to use, I was playing a Purviance 4*D4, and after two sets I was bleeding from Ray's mouthpiece. Now that was small. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Not too hard to find a small deep cup - but most of them are egg shaped or have a funnel component. Since you say "bowl shaped" I assume you are looking for a sound like a Bach 2 1/2, 2 3/4 .
Small and deep and bowl shaped (inside of cup bows out to a greater diameter than the bite area) - only one stock mouthpiece comes to mind
Bach 8 3/4 no letter.
Schilke 9 and Bach 6 and Bach 7 B are nice mouthpieces that play larger than they measure but they are not true "bowls" in my opinion.
