I hope this is ok to post here instead of in the mouthpieces section.
I am not a "collector" but I really like the older Yamaha Japan trumpet and flugelhorns as well as the Schilke borrowed designed bell shaped mouthpieces. I have tried lots of different brands of horns and mouthpieces over the last 38 years but nothing has knocked my Yamaha gear out of the main slot.
I have played a vintage Yamaha YTR-736 since before it was vintage. I kept the original 14A4a mouthpiece that came with it but didn't use it. Like most of us I stated on the orchestral path that seemed popular back then; 7c, 5c, 3c, etc.. However, I started experimenting with different mouthpieces in middle school. I bought a 6A4a (again vintage bell shaped) for my Bill Chase phase, but didn't use it much. I seemed to have found the perfect setup for my needs in a Yamaha 12 and 13A4a, both the old bell shape. This is not a 12A4a, 12A4, or 12B4, just a plain 12. I bought it from a guy in Japan and I have never seen another one.
I have tried the older flugelhorn pieces in the 11F4 and 12F3d but I am really looking for a 12F. I have seen exactly one of those also. I was looking for a flugelhorn and a seller in Japan listed the mouthpiece with the horn and case. I saw pictures and verified it was a plain 12F. Unfortunately, he wouldn't sell it to me separately.
If you have one (and would like to sell it) or know where I can find one, please let me know. If you have actually seen one please chime in too.

I finally was able to obtain an old catalog from Yamaha. It shows the Yamaha 12F as well as 11F2, 12F3d, and 13F. At least I know they were a production item, now I need to find one. _________________ Johnathan Barnett
