I’m using the silent brass trumpet mute (the new version) with my pocket trumpet. My concern is will it work again because I forgot to wipe off the excess moisture out of the trumpet bell and the mute itself and it’s not making a sound through the system?[/quote] |

The mute and mic pickup should be fine. Double check the transformer. If you left it on overnight, the battery probably died. |

Also check to be sure cord connections are solidly plugged in place. _________________ Yamaha 8310Z

Sorry for the lateness. I had some busy days ahead. Anyways thank you to the both of you looks like the silent brass mute is always turned off and the mute is always solidly plugged in correctly. But It still won’t work though. I don’t hear anything through the headphones. I think it needs to be throughly dried out. I’ll let y’all know the outcome. |

Have you tried different headphones too? Could be the wire's broken... |

I use a Silent Brass quite a bit and I do end up with moisture on the mic itself (inside of the mute) after long sessions if I don't stop occasionally and turn the bell to empty it of moisture that has blown all the way through the instrument. (I do this occasionally during concerts with a long blow as well.) When the moisture gets on the mic inside of the mute I turn it upside-down and leave it overnight. |

@Craig
How do know there is moisture inside the mute? I also use a lot the Silent Brass but never noticed such thing.
Thanks. _________________ S’il n’en reste qu’un je serai celui là (Victor Hugo)

Thanks everyone for the replies. After like five days of none use with the system (only the mute) it seems like I could hear it now. All it’s good thanks god. |
