Hi - this is a long shot, but here goes...

I own an older Callet Jazz trumpet, and have no idea when it was made.

There doesn't seem to be a definitive list of Callet serial numbers online, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has better information.

The serial number is around 6600. The horn does not have the reversed 3rd slide ring I've seen on some.

Presuming that your Callet Jazz was manufactured by Kanstul, the serial number would place it in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s.

It definitely looks like a Kanstul built horn. Thanks!

Your serial number is in the 1992-1994 age range!

All Callet Jazz trumpets were Kanstul built until Kanstul closed in 2019.

Since the Kanstul closure we are now building the "Jazz" at the Callet Custom Shop in Atlanta. They are turning out really nice!

In the late 70's early 80's Jerry Callet commissioned trumpets from DEG, which I believe he called his "New York" models, designed after Calicchio's work. After Zig started up in 1983 Callet moved his production to Kanstul, and they were made there up until last year as you've mentioned.

Yes the Callet "Jazz" was introduced circa 1989-1990 in the Kanstul years.

Are you making the entire trumpets in Atlanta, or are some parts being sourced elsewhere?

With the exception of valve blocks we have full in house capability although we still sub out some items made to Callet specs like main slides from M/K.
No US maker of .470 valve blocks could be found so we are using Carol Brass and for the .460 to .464 horns we have tested Getzen and Carol and both work well and we plan on using both of them.

Best Regards

would love to try one the new ones, and compare it with my "vintage" (ha ha) Callet.
