In the 6th measure of study 122 of Clarke's Technical Studies there is a double accidental, a flat followed by a sharp preceding an F sharp,

How is this played? I.e, is this an F natural, an F sharp, or something else?
,
Thanks.

My version shows it as a Natural followed by a Sharp - for the top line F, and I believe played as F#.

I think it is notated this way in to prevent confusion with the double sharp (x) of the F in the previous measure. The use of the Natural to indicate that the double sharp is cancelled, and then the single sharp to apply to the 'natural F'.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.

Thank you, that makes sense. I have a very old copy of Clarke (80+ years old).
