While I'm tempted to say my Olds Recording, I actually like my wife's Getzen Severinsen better. Can't beat the Getzen valves. |

I’ve had some great horns, but I just got a newish Puje American Belle and I can’t hardly set it down.
I can’t remember playing a horn that was as much sheer fun. Open blow, big bell... it’s gonna wear me out. Kudos to Brent Peters for putting out such a magnificent instrument. _________________ Jonathan Milam

Newbie here. Hi all. I guess this thread is as good as any to dive in and get started on TH. I love my Chinese trumpets. Pretty much all of them. Always looking and buying more. I've been searching for a Chinese flugel for quite some time.

My King 2070SGX. I first tried one at NAMM when I was a kid,. I played everything there and kept going back to that horn. Each year I'd go back and it would still be that horn above all others.
When I got into a performing arts high school, I got one for my birthday. Everything about that horn feels right to me. Except no one else has one and it doesn't blend well in the sections I play in. _________________ Bb: FrankenBach, '72 Committee, Conn 22B, King 2070SGX

2020 Eclipse Enigma "CLS" MYL (medium yellow brass lightweight) bell with...
-MAW valve block and...
-trigger to tuning slide, which I have on many of my horns for micro-tuning (horn changes, mute changes, mpc changes, organ stop changes in pitch level, et al.).
This build is ideal for me with my 4O leadpipe, but periodically, I switch to others that I own: 4T, 2T, O, CL, 2O, 6O, 8O, 10O.
CLS = Changeable Leadpipe System
T = Tight
O = Open
CL = Changeable Leadpipe

i have and have had a fair amount of horns, all the stuff everyone else has, but right now, my best playing horn is a 1970 selmer DeVille. Better than my Xeno, selmers, etc. Great sound, stability, response, and pitch. Vibe is Like a K-modified but way better. Feels like a xeno but better note fronts.
For hard commercial gigs i still cant beat my best connstellation 36b. For the long haul it cant be beat. i have a few 36B's and two of them are great. i like the 36 a lot more than the 38b for actual gigs. _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

Right now I am digging my Golden Flair. It really does play a lot like a Martin Committee. |

Recently added an Olds Super cornet to the collection...it's not my favorite, but definitely in the top 2. |

My 17-year-old Blackburn C. I have played a few C trumpets over the years but never found one that is as consistent as this one. _________________ Blackburn Bb and C

I would say a 1976 King Silver Flair. I also have a 1945 Olds Super that needs to have the valves re-plated and aligned so we will see once that is done |

My Schilke HC 1. It's all about the sound. It has a jazz voice. It can be kind of mellow, but it has an attitude and can growl when you crank up the volume. I can produce different tonal colors on the horn and the slotting is flexible enough to shape the notes. Sometimes when I play it, I actually sound like I know what I'm doing. It is a totally different beast than my Bach Strad and it is nice to have horns with such different personalities. The Strad gets used more in performances because I don't play jazz gigs. But at home, when I get to play whatever I want, it's the Schilke I pick up.
I really need to find a jazz band to join. _________________ Bach Stradivarius 37 (1971)

Up until a few weeks ago I would have said Fides Symphony 8000 but I just purchased a Stomvi USA that is getting close to unseating it. |

Favorite trumpet? It depends on what I'm playing. Best general, all around horn- Super Recording. Best for loud rock band- Conn 40b Vocabell. Best for small group jazz- Olds L-12 flugel or Olds recording with TF mouthpiece or Buescher Model 15 cornet. _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. About 7 months ago I purchased the new version of the Yamaha 8310ZII in lacquer. IMO, the revisions that they made to this model were MORE than worth it! This horn does whatever I want it to and is ending up being one of the best trumpets I've ever played/owned!

My 1961 Conn 36B Connstellation. Both of my trumpets play like a dream but the old Connstellation has such a beautiful sound, feel, and appearance. _________________ C. G. Conn 60B Super Connstellation
