I guess this post would be better in marketplace but I can't activate a marketplace account until I've posted elsewhere so here goes. I'm trying to locate a 3rd valve assembly for a Yamaha 737 trumpet. The part is discontinued but when listed I believe the part number was A4130030
Anyone got one for sale or know where I might find one? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Did you try Yamaha Parts 24x7? Sometimes the discontinued part is replaced by an equivalent newer SKU.

Thanks. Yes, tried it but there's no equivalent listed. My trumpet tech here in France reckons he can adapt another Yamaha valve but I'd like to try getting the real thing before doing that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try a modern valve from Yamaha, through a music store. Many can fit in a pinch. I've done this but its not optimal.

Buying a used valve, unless you can get it rebuilt its an iffy proposition.

Unfortunately, that model hasn't been made since maybe the mid-early 1980's, so getting an exact valve might be tricky.

Won't using even a valve that is designed for that model require fitting to the casing?

From what I have read and gleaned on here my understanding is the valves are slightly oversized to allow fitting to the casing.

Oberloh in Seattle could likely re-create the valve based on the other two and measurements of the casing for the third.

That is often the case.

Yes it will. I think any valve has to be fitted like that.

Thanks. Yes, that's the default solution proposed by the trumpet technician here in France.I think that's what I'll land up doing.
