Time spent doing the simple things on the Trumpet well is so important. If you use your warm up time to develop the simple things, the challenging things can become easier. |

Yes, most aspects of playing trumpet are 'simple', but not 'easy'. _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

In a masterclass, Mark Gould said: "Play simple things profoundly." It's always stuck with me. I often say to my students: "I would pay to listen to Phil Smith play Mary Had a Little Lamb, would you pay to listen to yourself play the same tune?" |

Hearing Mr. Cichowicz play the first flow studies of the day. Very profound indeed. He called them Long Tones. Emphasis on Tone. |
