The video is an interesting personal profile interview, and gives a lot of insight into John Rommel's approach and method of teaching and playing.
Don't be expecting much in the way of 'technical tips' - it's not like that.
2 sections that I especially noted are at timestamp
25:00 where he talks about the importance of being able to play 'easy stuff' really well before forcing yourself to expect quick result when playing more difficult material.
and
35:00 where he talks about different teaching styles.
Jay _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |
