I recently had picked up a vocabell 48a cornet for what I perceive as a good price(150$). The instrument has a lacquered finish and the lacquer along with the horn is in quite good condition depicting the age of the horn. What are some of the opinions on the horn? When I picked it up and played it, It resembled no other horn that I have ever played. Thanks!

Get a "short shank" - type of mouthpiece for it, it's what it was designed for.
Old Conns, Curry makes one, etc.

One of the best playing horns I’ve ever had in my hands. Get the right shank for any trumpet mp any it will sing, can be very loud without breakup. Watch that bell edge it can cut you. I like the rimless bell so much I have 3, one solid silver.
150 is a steal if it’s in good shape.
