I bought an F/G trumpet specifically to use on F French Horn play-alongs to have more options for solos to play.

I played on a Schilke G1L for a short time. It was great and friendlier than a piccolo, interestingly.

If I had more expendable income than I knew what to do with, I'd get one for fun.

I remember attending a Tony Plog recital/masterclass in undergrad. He brought Bb, C, and G trumpets and did some standard baroque literature on the G. Can't remember the pieces, but I remember what a nice sound that horn had. I think it was a Schilke.

You guys know that historically, the bulk of G and F trumpets are pitched an octave lower, right?

(of course pre-valves, I guess it might effectively be an octave higher, just with a whole lot of tubing)
