Good day to all.
Included with an almost mint late 40's Holton Revelation 48, was Holton 60A mouthpiece in mostly mint condition. Wondering about specs. Any Holton geeks out there?

As far as specific details are considered, I don't remember much about the 60A. Here's what I can tell you though, it is a fairly deep mouthpiece for it's time. Many found the design to inhibit playability saying that the mouthpiece lacks a true "cup" shape. Yes, the mouthpiece is not a standard bach design. However, when I placed the 60A in my 1940s vintage holton it brought new colors to that horn that I could not produce on my holton heim mouthpiece remake. Overall, the 60A is a wonderful little mouthpiece. If it works for you, then play on it! We as musicians and educators need to stop deeming brands or models as the "standard" and simply allow ourselves and our students to play on what best conforms to good playing habits.

I think it plays fine, I was more puzzled by the (outer) shape. Fits well the 40's Revelations I have too. I usually play a B3C. I "feel" the rim on the 60a a bit wider and somewhat flatter, also it has a flatter bottom maybe compared to 50's Bach corp 3c. But I agree if plays well for me, but I havn't played in a "real world" setting since late Feb.
Time will tell.

Indeed, this mouthpiece should fit the receiver of any 1940s Holton trumpet. I do agree with you, the rim leans toward the flat side, especially when compared to a Bach.
