|
|
What's a player to do who is really stuck on the Bobby Shew Yamaha flugelhorn mouthpiece and has moved to a horn that requires the small-morse/Bach shank?
I've played the Marcinkiewicz Shew flugelhorn mouthpiece and don't think it works as we'll for me. Something is different in the blow.
I guess it's dumb to think that Yamaha would make a mouthpiece with a Bach shank for me.
Any creative ideas? I guess there's always the custom copy route with Jim New, Bob Reeves and others. |

Any chance of getting a large shank mouthpipe for your flugel? _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

Don't forget about Curry, they're one of our top selling flugelhorn mouthpieces for good reason. He offers ALL manner of shanks for any brand of flugelhorn you may have, nice design, great sound, and won't break the bank is a bonus. _________________ James Becker

Idea. Get the Shew flugelhorn top threaded for a backbore you can use on your new flugel. I had a Shew Jazz threaded for a new rim and like it much better. The original rim was too rounded and endurance really suffered.
I have used Reeves and Osmun for mouthpiece alterations and both did an excellent job. |
