Hi Nathan, thanks for posting about this - I'm the person who is making and selling these mutes and have been meaning to post about them here!

There probably won't be too much of a response to your question just yet as I have only *just* started selling them. I'm happy to respond to anyone's questions or comments they may have in the meantime.

In case anyone is interested in its background, the ring mute isn't really a new idea. I first came across one through a colleague of mine who had one that I really liked. However, they didn't seem to be available anywhere, so I asked my lovely and clever wife to make one for me. It worked out so well I wanted to make them available to the trumpet community, and with any luck other trumpeters will think it's as cool as I do!

Thanks for posting, and thanks to michaelbarth for the additional information.

I remember a discussion about a prior incarnation of a ring mute about 10 years ago. This might be what you were talking about. As I recall, they were a foam ring held together with a layer of duct tape around them.

Your version looks nice. The adjustable positioning looks interesting. Best of luck with it!

Mike

Michael Barth's ring mute version looks great compared to the home cottage kitbash ring mutes floating around on eBay.
