Good evening,

I have a Piccolo Trumpet leadpipe (Bflat, I think) which is silver and is 87mm long talking a trumpet mouthpiece.

I think it was part of Yamaha Bflat/A Piccolo I used in the 1990s in the UK.

I'd like to identify it so I can sell it.

Can I put a photo up on this forum so that you can all see it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Andy

Yamaha piccolo leadpipe shanks are 11mm outside diameter (or slightly under), unlike other brands.

Many thanks James Becker

This pipe is 87mm long

Any idea which make it is?

Surely it's a B flat shank.[/img]

Depending on which Yamaha model, over all length can vary. The YTR-6810S pipes run a bit longer than the long models pipes. Regardless, the O.D of the shanks remains the same, they’ll fit short and long models.

Many thanks again James

I'll cut to the chase:

I would like to sell this 87mm Piccolo Trumpet (Bflat?) shank - manufacturer unknown.

How should I price it?

What do I call it?

Sorry for the vagueness, I just thought that this might be worth something to someone and I like receiving money...

Thanks again

Andy

Put an image or two on a hosting site and link it here. You will need more than the length, the precise diameter is needed, or it won't be possible to know if it fits one's instrument.

I purchased a a Bb pipe for my Scherzer which was made by Callet... well it wasn't apart from being the right length. It was too small. After modifying it, it works really well, but Callet (in how words) never ever made a pipe fr a Scherzer...

So I would be very wary of labelling, unless 100% sure. Accurate measurements might help, but in short, it's pretty useless without a good ID.

cheers

Andy

Many thanks Andy

Good advice.

I will keep scouring the internet to find pictures which match my leadpipe.

Thanks again for your advice.

Kind regards

Andy

If you can get your hands on a micrometer, here are some reference outside diameters off the top of my head.

Kanstul/F. Besson .419”
Schilke .425”
Yamaha .433”
Selmer .445”
Scherzer .445”
Getzen .450”

I think there are two trumpet facebook pages that you could put up the pictures and the description you gave us and someone would probably tell you what it is and/or buy it. I think if you have the measurements and an image and ask a fair price (maybe $100-$150) you'd have a good shot at selling it. New pipes seem to be $200 plus and used seem to go for $100-$150.
