I'm curious if anyone has played the new Schagerl "Berlin" model rotary trumpets that Gábor Tarkövi helped develop? If so, how do they compare to the "Horsdorf Heavy" design?

Thanks,

Mike

Lee Walkowich from Washington Music Center will have a Schagerl Berlin for trial at the upcoming ITG in Anaheim if you may be attending. Short of that would be a phone call to him at 301.946.8808 and as knowledgable as Lee is, I'm sure he can answer your questions. Karl Schagerl will not be attending this year but next year in Hershey, PA Gabor is the featured artist and Karl is coming to that one.

Thanks Tony. I'm aware the Lee is the main Schagerl distributor in the US. I'd rather hear from players who have tried them as opposed to someone who will try and sell me one!

FYI, Lee Walkowich is a very fine trumpet player who toured with Sandovals big band and continues to work in the Washington D.C. area with several big bands. To lend credence to his skills, he has picked out trumpets for many symphony principal players around the country including a set of Schagerl Horsdorf Heavys for the NY Philharmonic. He's a rarity in the music business in that he doesn't ever hard sell any horn to players who come in and prefers to let them make their own decision after trying the entire inventory. Of course he will tell interested players what he has to offer and just stand back listening.

Love My Berlin Heavy C.

Sold my Weimann after getting it. Was just a better match for my playing. (Although Weimann’s are really great)

Had a easier, free blow without feeling too open. Amazing intonation.

Much better sound and response compared to the Horsdorf’s I’ve played.
