I've been hunting around a bit but keep coming back to an older, maybe late 60's, Bach 7C and the Bobby Shew Jazz.
Definitely something different between the Jazz and the Bach 3C I have. I can play much more comfortably over the staff on the Shew vs the Bach 3C. _________________ Adams/ACB collaborative

I have played and enjoyed my Bach Mt. Vernon 1 1/2C mouthpieces (matching cornet and trumpet versions) for many years. To me, their sound and response are superior to any other mouthpieces I have tried. Except...
I am really liking the AR Resonance trumpet mouthpiece I recently purchased. I don't know if it will replace my Mt. Vernons, but I am having a lot of fun!
The best sounding trumpet mouthpiece I ever owned was a Mt. Vernon Bach 3C. So much color and texture to the sound!
I loaned it to the Principal Trumpet of a major symphony orchestra and when I got it back, it had been converted to a screw-rim that played nothing like the original.

Stomvi Flex 3FVR with J6 backbore, threaded by K.O. to use my Warburton #4 rim, 3.5 coupler. Works great on both of my Bb trumpets. _________________ Bryan Fields

I thought I had settled mouthpiece questions. I had three trumpet mouthpieces that I used depending on the horn and situation, really two of them getting the most time. A Bach 1.5C with the throat bored out to 26 and a Bach 1.5C Symphonic, 26 throat, 24 backbore. That was until I wanted an acrylic mouthpiece to play in the cold outdoors. After discussions with Josh at ACB, I got their symphonic backbore with a 1.25 Symphonic top. When I tested it out, I liked the way it played on multiple horns, so I got a metal 1.25 symphonic top. Have really been enjoying it recently. It has got me thinking about experimenting a bit more. The softer rim makes it feel smaller than my 1.5Cs, so I might try larger. Good grief, it is endless!
I will not discuss the ongoing saga of natural trumpet mouthpieces, but I think I have at least the type there, now just working with sizes. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS SP, Yamaha YTR-6335S

If you decide to sell the Bach 1-1/2C Symphonic, let me know. I’ve been thinking of trying one out. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Curry 3C. Very comfortable rims. Great sound. Agile and versatile.
The Curry 3fld is a great flugelhorn mp. It sounds fluffy and has the same comfortable rim as its trumpet counterpart. _________________ Bach Stradivarius 37 (1971)

For me it was a Bach 1c my teacher had me get in about 1963. Big, round sound and plenty flexible. Looking back on it 13 yrs. old may have been pretty young to play that piece, but I used it for years. and I am reminded I need to find it in my apartment as I don't carry it in my case anymore. _________________ "There are two sides to a trumpeter's personality,

All of my mouthpieces are custome Marcinkiewicz's... except for t4he cornet piece, which was done for me by Doug Meeuwsen (Lipshurt), whoc took my Marcink trumpet piece and duplicated it, then made one on a cornet blank and deepened it just enough. _________________ BKA! Marcinkiewicz Rembrandt flugel, Benge 8Z cornet, King 2B, Bach 36, Benge 190, Getzen 3062... many more. All Marc. mouthpieces. |

I own about 40 (50? I did not count them) mouthpieces for trumpet, cornet and flügelhorn and every now and then another one is my favorite, so: sorry. |

Monette B4S - searched for a long time and ended up with this... Maybe the Monette hype is well-deserved?

My current favorite I designed myself .. I am a mouthpiece hacker It is quite funky with a #9 throat and a very deep very narrow bowl.
My next favorite is a Monette B6DS1. I have a love/hate of this mouthpiece, the tone I don't like a lot and it sometimes feels stuffy but man it gets the notes out!
GR65MX is also very sweet, this mouthpiece is super efficient.
I also have a collection of cheap eBay oddities just for fun, it is fascinating the bizarre things someone tried at some point. I would say my favorite in that pile is a Martin 9. The Martin mouthpieces were way ahead of their time, not sure why nobody talks about them. I think Monette may have copied some of it as it has the exact same throat size and overall length as my Monette. _________________ Thane Standard Large Bb / Monette Unity B6-7M mpc

Has to be my old Bach 1 1/4 C (1970). Trumpet version, cornet version.
Why? My dealer told me it would be just fine for my King trumpet (1970).
Switched to Schilke - variations of 14 - around mid 1990s. Reasons for this unclear.....however I seem to like the Schilke standard rim better. _________________ Cornets:

Trumpet Chops Tri-Cup. I think Lee Adams designed it. Need to get it replated and duplicated. Fantastic, versatile smaller piece.
