Presented by The Los Angeles Opera Concert Opera based on the life of Rafael Mendez.
“Concierto Para Mendez”, which premiered at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in 2006. Project celebrates the life of legendary trumpet soloist Rafael Mendez. The performance was supported by a 65-piece orchestra, four operatic voices and a solo trumpeter.
Mendez is shown playing “La Virgen De La Macarena”. Malcolm Mcnab is also featured playing a Mendez solo.

I was at both performances of the operetta. They were magnificent.

PBS has not released a commercial DVD of the edited broadcast. Our poster seems to be willing to give out (or sell?) copyrighted music and recordings.
