It's pretty impossible to tell much from that distance.
The case looks like the one that I got with my 1950 or 51 Connstellation. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

None of those horns have the "point-to-point" (i.e. perpendicular to the leadpipe and bell) braces of the Connstellation or Vintage One. I would pass on those horns unless you get a solid identification and better pics, but then again, $150 for a student horn isn't so bad. If they are Conn instruments, they aren't pro models. |

Was thinking it might be a Connstelation based on how far back the valve block is... but I agree that from that distance, it's hard to know. _________________ Bb: FrankenBach, '72 Committee, Conn 22B, King 2070SGX

I was just commenting on the vintage of the case, but yeah, it doesn't look like a Connstellation. The forward bell brace is actually pretty far back on the silver horn.
Judging from the cases and maybe the horns... the left one could be a Yamaha Advantage, probably. I don't know about the right, maybe a Blessing Scholastic. The middle one is interesting, but other than the brace placement, I can't tell much. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

The newer 52B Connstellation has "Z" type braces which is what I was thinking, But I forgot that those are reversed leadpipes, so not this horn. _________________ Bb: FrankenBach, '72 Committee, Conn 22B, King 2070SGX

I thought it might be a Getzen based on the case, but it doesn't have the 1st slide alignment that Getzens have. Not sure what it could be. Maybe one of those weird Conn 52B's from the period between Elkhart and the Vintage One coming out? |

Honestly, from this distance, we're just throwing random darts. We can tell what it's not from the forward bell brace, but that's about it.
If it's anything decent- as in not a Chinese cheapie, which I doubt it is - even a solid silver student horn, $150 is a good price. If it were me, local, non pandemic, and I didn't already have two dozen horns, I'd just go for it and see what it is. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

I say this to everyone
Guessers are losers.
I would pass unless the seller is willing to show you what he is selling.
There is usually a reason sellers hide what they offer _________________ Conn 80a Cornet

Can't you ask him for a close up photo? They should be able to do so fairly easily...if not, then pass on it, even if it's legit there may be all sorts of issues with the instruments. |

Guessers aren't losers. Guessers are guessers, and losers are losers.
There is a whole thread about "future legendary trumpets" that is nothing but guessing. Perhaps what you mean could be when guessers become buyers, the likelihood of becoming a loser increases exponentially. |

I think what he meant was that people who buy trumpets sight-unseen from less than descriptive sellers usually lose money on the transaction. I would generally agree with that sentiment. |

I like your post Liberty Lips there is good sense in it.
What I meant was this.
We can decide based upon known information and this can often lead to success.
We can speculate based upon experience and knowledge and this can also lead to success.
Or we can just guess based on nothing other than feelings and hope.
I feel that might be a conn and I hope it might be useable.
Otherwise it might be more con than conn
Guesswork leads to wrong decision making and that leads often to failure.
Guesswork is a 50 50 crapshoot.
Speculation based on experience gives an edge that makes success more likely.
Guessing is gambling we might as well flip a coin as guess.
Speculation however I will take that if I have to and I have many times.
Using a rule that guessers are losers encourages us to not decide important issues based on a coin flip or drawing a high card and may save us from making a bad decision.
I would rather walk away from a purchase if I have no idea what I am buying or if it works or if it is even complete.
That instrument could be a broken worthless trumpet shaped object with stuck slides flattened tubing and rigid stuck valves that is not worth even 1 dollar.
If there is a detailed photograph available and it shows a quality instrument that looks complete maybe it is worth buying.
It has an equal chance of being a loss or a win as it stands.
I have a history of buying great instruments for little money, that is because I am careful.
I bought a great conn 80a for 80 dollars and that was only after seeing great pictures of it and I speculated and it was a win.
That and other purchases were speculative and I nailed every one of them.
I would never offer money for an instrument I could not see like this one.
This is the voice of experience speaking.
As for this instrument there will be another along if the op walks away from this one so there will be no loss in doing that.
Every instrument I have bought was second hand I have bought instruments priced from 15 dollars up to 220 dollars with most being between 25 and 60 dollars and I have never bought a bad instrument.
I have never guessed about buying instruments and I recommend the op does not guess, not for 150 dollars if it was 5 dollars maybe but I wouldnt even then. _________________ Conn 80a Cornet

I get to guess too.
Real nice case. Has kind of a Bachish look - might be a Conn Heritage model 80B Bach clone. Looks like the Conn valve casing rather than the King with the shorter wider spaced 1st valve slide. Double braced like a Bach - not single braced like the Vintage, 52B, or SS models.
I know the Heritage C was a good trumpet - if is a Heritage it's worth a try. Should be price fairly low since it's not well know.
