I currently have a couple of 40 year old Shure P588B-CN mics and a much newer Shure SM81-LC that a church was throwing away. They all work. But none of them give me a decent trumpet sound when I record.
I've been thinking about getting a decent ribbon mic. It looks like I can get something adequate for somewhere aroung $250. But I would also love to have a wireless mic for performance. I currently have wireless in ear monitors to help me deal with my hearing loss on stage. A wireless mic would give me the ability to move around and that could be fun.
I am wondering if a decent wireless mic would make an acceptable quality trumpet recording using my Focusrite 2i2 and my iMac. I would hate to spend $600 to 800 on a wireless and then another $250 on a ribbon mic. _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. Wireless mics are not recommended for studio use. That said, Bono, of U2, famously records all his vocals on a wireless Shure SM58, or so the story goes. _________________ Kevin |
