I'm not really a comeback player, but I am prone to taking breaks, sometimes weeks or months. I took a break 3 weeks ago after a discouraging video practice session. I didn't give trumpet a thought.
A couple of nights ago, Dizzy came to me in a dream, in an abstract, performance art rendition of Night In Tunisia with a vocalist, in an art museum. I took it as a sign to pick it up again. I also picked up a CD copy of his 50's recording "Have Trumpet, Will Excite" at my local record store.
Inspiration is a funny thing. |
