Just a heads up that this stuff is *great*.

In the past, I've used the Yamaha oil, Al Cass Fast, and Ultra Pure. This stuff (The T2 option) is way better IMO. Faster valves that never seem to stick... ever? It also doesn't seem to evaporate. I've been lazy and gone two weeks without reapplying without any sign of sluggishness.

Am using it on a Kanstul, a Carol and a Yamaha, all with equal results.

Worth trying out if you're not totally satisfied with your current oil

I'm interested in trying La Tromba T3.

I had my horns cleaned at ITG, and the tech recommended T2, and I've been very happy with it. I was using Al Cass before that, and it's definitely higher viscosity and lasts much longer. I also like the longer neck for applying down in the valves. Incidentally, the only oil that the tech didn't recommend was Blue Juice. He said he's seen a lot of horns with build-up that used that oil.

I have used T2 exclusively on my horns for several years. Works good for me.

Good to know about the blue juice.

I think you're right that it's a little thicker, but it doesn't seem at all to slow the valve stroke or create any sluggishness even with very tight tolerance valves.

I don't see myself changing oil anytime soon now. Actually, I just ordered some more.

I'm interested in trying this. But is this oil synthetic? Just curious.

I've been trying to find the answer to this without success.

I've been using T2 for several years and am a big fan. I like it because it lasts like mad and never binds. The oils I like least are the ones that don't last and then hang up. That said it's not as fast as some other oils and it really becomes an issue on horns with particularly tight valves like my Kanstul picc and Yamaha flugel. For those horns I've been using Blue Juice and just dealing with having to reoil relatively often. Aside from not lasting nearly as long as T2, I've not had any problems with Blue Juice.

I've just recently been gifted a bottle of T3 that I've been evaluating for some months now. It seems to work about as well as T2 and is noticeably faster. It also seems to work on horns with tighter valves though I haven't tested that nearly as thoroughly.

Yes, I believe it is 100% synthetic. It's manufactured by a company in Switzerland, although I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

I think there are very few valve oils on the market today that aren't synthetic. I don't outright know, but I doubt it is any different in this regard.

How do you choose between their oils?

Do you use the T3, which is ultra-thin, on new horns with close tolerance valves like a Yamaha and the T2 on horns that are not considered close tolerance?

That's what I've found. I favor the T2 on horns that tolerate it but respect the valves could still be faster. T3 is the only choice for tight valves.

I love T2. I also use T3 for Schilke valves.

Has anyone used the normal "T1" oil? Seems like T2 is much more popular.

Agreed. Blue Juice is terrible.

Thank you for this. I have blue juice and have not been thrilled.

It's been about 6 months or so since I started using T2 on my horns and it's still working great for me!

I have always been a user of La tromba T2 and recommend it to everyone I can. I have used other valve oils such as blue juice but find that they aren't half as good as La tromba.

I use T3 on a 1996 trumpet used enough. Perfect, very smooth pistons. A few drops and only at the bottom of the piston.
