I had a driveway moment today. The classical program I listen to, Martin Goldsmith on Sirius, played music from “On the Waterfront” conducted by Bernstein with the NY Philharmonic. This was the Philharmonic I grew up with: Vacchiano and Prager on trumpet (big 2nd trumpet solo),Mr. Wummer on flute, Gomberg oboe, Heim piccolo and that crack percussion section (Buster Bailey could play a lullaby on the snare!)
I couldn’t leave my car until it was over. Listening to favorite, old recordings brings me back for a moment.
