Give us context. 2B or not 2B? Mouthpiece, old Conn trumpet model? A note designation?

King Liberty 2B

Conn 2B

Koeder 2B

Stork Vacchiano 2B etc.

Seems to be used in a lot of brands. Must have some meaning across the trumpet world?

Some meaning for Conns.

B indicates that the instrument is a trumpet.
A indicates that the instrument is a cornet.

.... Stork Vacchiano 2B ....

2 is cup diameter and rim contour
B is cup depth and shape

Which has nothing to do with trumpet models you have in your list.

My Dear PNut

2B, or not 2B--that was your question?

Do not be misled by those other unwary and unwashed trumpet stalwarts,
as they have been proselytized by the cunning workings of the vast Musical Industrial Complex; from which "2B" is only a code which naturally makes unsuspecting and frustrated musicians
Eager to Google search for new acquisitions.

We must all consider whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous and immediate material gratification,
Or to take arms against a sea of musical materialism
And by opposing, end the dominance of online buying.
To die, to sleep, to load up your Mastercard--No more--
and by a well attended practice room, with our goals well documented.
to say we end The heartache,
and the thousand unnatural purchases That flesh is heir to.

'Tis a consummation well to be pursued, unless of course, you
got that LUCKY LOTTERY TICKET!

With Humble Apologies to Wm Shakespeare

When I read the title, I thought it was going to be about people sharing how they named their trumpet. That would be more fun.

I named mine Cornelia.

It's easy. 2B is an other thing than 1B or 2C.
You understand?

... or Denmark.

Anyway, what's in a name?
That which we call a 2B by any other name would sound as sweet.

Was thinking the same thing. I'll admit I have an emotional attachment to the trumpet I play, but I haven't gone so far as to name it (other than 'the Olds'). I can see why people would do so though.
