Is it expensive to fix it when the finger piston strips out the top of the valve so that the top will no longer stay affixed to bottom of the the valve assembly???
My terminology is probably all wrong, but I have never before run across this kind of problem in my 60 years of playing.
Thanks,

If you mean that the threads are stripped on the top of the valve casing I don't think it should be very difficult to repair. _________________ Music is a fire in your belly, fighting to get out. You'd better put a horn in the way before someone gets hurt. |

Or do you mean that the valve stem has stripped threads where it attaches to the top of the piston (right above the valve spring)? That’s likely a fairly easy fix, as long as you find a competent technician. I once stupidly dropped a valve on a tile floor during a horn cleaning, the top of the piston where the stem attaches was bent, Doctor Valve / Steve Winans fixed it.

Of course it depends on the trumpet. Some techs won’t touch the budget TSO’s. |
