Played taps at two different places.
I wonder how many of us in the US participated in the Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 PM and played Taps afterwards.
If not, please sign up for next year.

I played with a Concert Band for an American Legion Memorial Park dedication, and then sounded Taps in my neighborhood as I have done for the past couple of Memorial and Veterans Day holidays. _________________ Best Regards,

I didn't render Taps this year - a friend of mine from the National Guard band I'm in did the honors this year. He did ok - not sure why, but he played those quarter notes in the middle as dotted quarter 8th. No matter, the effect was still good.
I heard a rendition of Echo Taps at another event we played on Saturday. It was pretty bad. I know some people really dig echo taps, but if you're going to do it, make sure of a few things:
1.) Have two players with decent enough chops to play it and get through it correctly.
2.) PRACTICE together so that you know where to play
3.) Tune up before you start - these guys were almost on entirely different pitches - it was pretty rough.
Here's a recording of it I did a number of years ago that gains several thousand views every Memorial Day and Veteran's day - technically this isn't the "correct" way to play Echo Taps, but because I was at home in my recording studio, it worked out ok.
Played Taps in church a number of times since learning to play the trumpet. This year was no different.
If you are able and willing, BAA is a great organization that I've been involved with for some years and they always can use volunteers to render TAPS. Families and everyone involved always appreciate a live performance of TAPS. https://www.buglesacrossamerica.org

Just got involved with BAA. So far I have played Taps three times in the last six weeks. I have found the experience to be incredibly rewarding. Our state director was a great Encourager during my "audition and interview." I am also finding it meaningful to read the obituaries for the service people for whom I play (everyone has a story!) and am enjoying my interaction with the very young honor guard military personnel.
