I just got an offer to buy my trumpet and the buyer would give me an extra $100.00 if I got an ebay gift card to send with the horn for his son. Please be careful in the Marketplace.

Scammers are everywhere. I post ads on Craigslist and if an item is listed for more than $1000, I typically get a scam message within 5 minutes!

I received this message this morning about an item for sale in the TH Marketplace:

From: ROBERT PODLEWSKI <robertpod00001@gmail.com>

Subject: Re: Inquiry for TrumpetHerald item: Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet
To:

Am located in Ohio, Presently I am busy at sea, due to my profession as I work as an Oceanographer and presently on the sea at the moment! I am purchasing this Trumpet for my Older Son in the States, working as a Navy Officer. I don't want him to know anything about this Trumpet, until it has been delivered to him, so I would like you to reassure me that this Trumpet is as described. Do you accept payment by PayPal. I would also like to know the shipment cost to Ohio.
Robert.

Occasionally a scammer will send an initial email that isn't very obvious, but the follow up is usually a convoluted story like this one.

If he had just admitted that he wanted to see if he could train dolphins how to play then he might not have aroused suspicions.

I posted his email address, so feel free to follow up with any dolphin inquiries!

Be careful reporting scammers here as well.
I reported one notable scammer and my original account was disabled by admin.
Be careful on trumpetherald in general.
