I was in my car a few minutes ago, with a spare mouthpiece and a leadpipe and I experienced something like this :
let's say a certain note requires a certain amount of x ( resistance/impedance/talent you name it )
lips alone : you need to ' create ' this very amount of x to get the note
with the mouthpiece : the mouthpiece give some amout of what's needed to produce the note, so you need less amount with your lips
with the leadpipe : same process.
By and large, I manged to get a middle C on the lips, apply the mouthpiece and get something like a high Bb/c, and with the leapipe a double high G came out.
Is this my perception that is flawed ( and I manipulate to get the notes ) or is it something worthwhile to follow ?

What is it that you're thinking about to 'follow'?
Are you talking about understanding the 'physics' of sounding a pitch on trumpet, or gaining improved playing ability? _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

I was wondering if this idea is worthwhile to experiment with.
Has anyone worked his embouchure that way
If I extrapolate :
my middle C with the lips alone got me a high G on the leadpipe
maybe a G top of the staff on the lips will lead to a double high C
maybe not
maybe the sound will suffer
I dont know
thus my asking |
