The middle valve on my trumpet has become stripped where the top screws into the lower part of the valve.
What is the best way to fix this?
Is there a home fix? _________________ Chuck

Who manufactured the instrument?
If it is one of the cheap imports your best bet might be to buy another horn, due to lack of replacement parts, cost of repair, the challenge in finding a tech who is willing to work on it, etc.
I also don’t understand how that could happen with normal usage and cleaning regimen. I am suspicious that it might be due to a manufacturing mistake. If so you might have a warranty claim.
Good luck.
Edit: I just checked your signature, shoulda done that first , there are ways to fix stripped threads like building up the female side, redrilling and threading if that is where the threads are stripped. If it is the stem, male threads, that are stripped a new stem from a donor horn could be used.

Yup. Talk to a very tech. Josh Landress or Osmun Brass or Rich Ita level. I wouldn't leave this to a guy who pulls stuck slides on TR300s all day, necessarily.
