I am looking for a high resolution image of John Blanke, 16th century trumpet player in the court of King Henry VII. He is depicted in the Westminster Tournament Roll, and while I can find some regular JPGs, I want something that can be printed in reasonable good quality. (I have some framed images of historically-significant trumpeters like Reiche and Snow on my studio wall and would love to include Blanke.)

Does anyone here have any leads? I would gladly purchase a print if there was a place selling them.

Many thanks for any ideas!

Joel

This is the largest one I've seen online. Anyone competent is Photoshop could make a good sized print from this.

Thanks for that! Do you know the source of the image? It’s one I haven’t seen before.

I was more hoping for the one of the images from from the Tournament Roll in which he playing his trumpet:

Actually, Joel, further research indicates that the one I posted is not of John Blanke after all.... This copy of one of the ones you pointed out is certainly large enough to make a print from.

Thanks Dan! That image certainly does look high enough quality to try printing. I'll give it a go (once my local lockdown ends) and will post results.

Cheers,
Joel
