Looking at a Queenie flugelhorn on eBay. Seller seems reputable, says no serial number on the horn. I found this odd. Any particular reasoning behind this. Were certain models made lacking serial numbers? This was made in the rue Lafayette factory, but, not a Lafayette horn. My first post, new member. Please be patient if this post is in the wrong place. Ty

Some Couesnon horns have a serial number, others no serial number. So it is normal. In a general way, the Couesnon serial numbers are meaningless and by the way there is no data about this (all destroyed by a fire)…
Rue Lafayette was the address of the Couesnon head office at one time, nothing to do with the Models stamped Lafayette made for the US market (guess why 🤔 ) .
If the bell of your horn is simply stamped Couesnon, rue Lafayette it was probably made in the 60’.

Thanks ! This has the small o embedded in the capital C in the name of the maker. I’ve seen this before. Right now I’m the high bidder!

There are a lot of Couesnon flugels which don't have a serial number. They have a letter stamped on them...an N or a D are two of the letters. There's been a lot of discussion about this over the years, but I don't think there's ever been an explanation for what the letters mean.

I have a Couesnon stencil...an Elkhart with a big E on the bell, but it, too, has one of those letters. Plays nice.

Hope you got a good deal...and hope the valves are in good shape. Haven't ever heard much about Queenies with bad valves, so maybe that doesn't happen that much.

Hope you enjoy the horn! Let us know your impressions.

There is no secret regarding the letters on the valve block: it is the first letter of the name of the worker that made lt. And probably the same for the leadpipe, or other parts.
All this was already explained in this quite long but informative thread:

Regarding specifically the serial numbers (see my post):

Regarding specifically the letters(see my post):

Trying to post pics of my new to me Cousenon fluegelhorn. I’m confused at how to post. It has some corrosion on valve casing.

For me, the link works, but inside Photobucket all I see is a blank screen with a little "broken image" icon in the middle.

I think Photobucket makes people join before they can see images. Why don't you use Imgur? I do, and I can use it to have my pictures appear right in my post.
