Looking for my next mute I have been quite fond of the solitone mute, but can't find a nice restored vintage any longer, so I was wondering how the MuteMeister showtone compares. |

MuteMeister ShowTone is a great mute. You won't be disapointed if you take this route.
Huber I can't review.. I do have one of their Pixi mutes which is pretty darn good _________________ Freelance Performer/Educator

I think the trumcor vintagetone is the best solotone I’ve played. MuteMeister is a close second! |

Just ordered the trumcor off ebay. Best price I found after shipping and tax was right under 100.00. |

I can't speak for the MuteMeister since I have not played one, but they do have a good reputation. I have a Humes and Berg Solotone mute and it was worthless, the intonation was so bad. Proir to the pandemic, I was doing quite a few musicals, and some would call for Solotone. I have been using an Emo Solotone mute and it gets the job done far better than the Humes and Berg. But hands down, the best Solotone mute I have ever played was the one from Clary Mutes. Great sound and great intonation. They aren't inexpensive, but the workmanship on their mutes is pure artistry. I do have one their cup mutes and it is outstanding. |

I have the Trumcor version and used it extensively in a long run of "The Drowsy Chaperone" a couple summers back. Great sound in the pit, carried well to the audience (unmic'd), very good feedback to me, little felt or noticed added resistance thoughout the playing range, and I recieved a ton of positive comments from audience members wondering what I was using to produce the tone. Maybe more cool to own an "original" but for my purposes the Trumcor is about as good as it gets. Good luck with yours. |

Yep the bag is handy. All my other mutes are in Crown Royal bags. This one didnt need one as it has its own. |
