Are they two different mutes/systems?

Yeah, the SB7Xc and SB7X-2 are both structurally the same but with updated IRs and microphone pickup in the '-2' to improve the response/latency/overall conversion to digital sound (better software). Prob not too big of a deal if you're just trying to practice quietly.

I own the SB-7x2 and love it. Personally, I don't like to use a practice mute and the actual mute is pretty nice but not my favorite. I will say that I love the overall system. The sound/tone is great. It's obviously not the same as practicing without a practice mute but if you have good headphones then I would highly recommend the SB-7x2.

Hi,

Does anyone know when the Yamaha´s SILENT Brass System for Trumpet SB7X-2 was released and does anyone know if there are any plans for a new model soon?

Played the trumpet between 8 and 16 and hope to learn how to play again, now at the age of...55 Time really flies by....

Therefore I really need a good silencer/mute/damper not to disturb my family and neighbours too much

I will therefor buy the latest model of the SILENT Brass System for Trumpet and if there are no plans for a new model soon I will buy the SB7X-2 if that is the latest model on the market (is it?)?

I have both the old and "new" versions. I can't date the "new" system, but I've had it for so long that I can't remember getting it. A real new version may be due simply because that's what companies do, whether it's necessary or not.

Quite frankly, I don't know what they could do to a new model that would enhance what they already have. If you're really curious, though, why not contact the company, itself?
