Hello. I've been following the TH forum discussions for some time, but I finally registered officially. I just opened a jazz trumpet pro shop in Melbourne, FL, so it was time to become a real member.

Cheers Trumpeters!

For those that have not checked-out the website yet, here is the link: https://jamiestrumpetgallery.com/gallery/

This is the sort of shop I love. You go in, and you get to try out, not just read about, but play, a wide variety of horns. Including the Eastlake Benge 5 (heavily modified with a remarkable mix of retro and contemporary add-ons) and the Silvertone demonstrate a scope that reaches beyond the Jazz focus (though I seem to be partial to that focus).

There is no substitute. For me, it is Austin Winds in Austin TX, but for those near FLA, that's a whopper of drive and this shop looks fantastic. The next nearest chance to really be hands-on with a wide variety of horns is Rich Ita's Brass Instrument Workshop in Marietta GA.

The 1965 Committee caught my eye. It appears to actually be an RMC Martin TU-28 Deluxe - a distinction only a musicologist would probably grasp. To my knowledge, no Committee family horns were made between the Wurlitzer acquisition out of the RMC bankruptcy and 1971's handful of Kenosha Committees (that I think were basically actually Deluxes).

To the OP: does this "Committee" have a post-RMC (Wurlitzer started at 700,000) serial number?

If, as I suspect, it is a 1962/63 Deluxe, I'll just come out right here and ask the OP if she would be willing to allow me to use it in my guide at trumpet-history? I don't have a proper picture of an RMC Deluxe.

Again, check out this site, and if you live in the region, check out this shop. There is no substitute for a selection of horns and someone to discuss them with who understands both what they are, and how they are used.

Just checked out the website and anyone that writes like that about an Olds Recording like Jamie does is ok in my book!

Also love the gallery photos, what a great way to showcase trumpets!

Welcome to Trumpet Herald, and good luck with your business!

Wow, I feel really honored to have such a warm welcome and the insightful commentary of trumpet experts! I hope to be able to reach out to you for expertise in the future.

OldSchoolEuph - your comments are spot-on. Shoot me an email and I’ll send a pic of the Martin as it is displayed in the gallery—-you’re going to smile. And yes, you can use the photos.

Mike - I’m so happy to find someone who appreciates my water key tie clips! The humor of those is usually lost on anyone who doesn’t play a brass instrument. Finally—people who really get it!

Hi Jamie,
Welcome to the forum. I liked the look of your website. Nice presentation of the horns in your shop. Wish I lived close enough to stop buy. There are a couple of horns I would like to try.

Just a Heads-up note. I had trouble on the Gallery page. I am using Firefox on Windows 10 and the links to the descriptions of the horns did not work. I also tried on Chrome with the same result. The text under the images turns red when I hover over it but the links do not work. Images themselves have no links. I will check again when I get home on another computer as I am working remotely right now. Others seem to have gotten them to work.

Anyway, best of luck with your shop. Is that you in one of the pictures?

Hi there. I was doing some work on my site yesterday—still some bugs to fix here and there. That may be why you had trouble with links. I hope the problem is resolved now. Ugh! Computers are the bane of my existence…

Just tried the website on my iphone, can’t see anything other than your home page.

Nice web site.

It works on my iMac, and Safari (now), but, I had to go into the Safari preferences and "allow pop-up windows" for your specific site, before I could click on any of the trumpet images.

I noticed the pop ups too. I really hate sites that use pop ups. If I want another window opened I know how to do that. YMMV

But I decided to do a little more investigation as some people said it works for them.

For me on Windows using either the Edge or Chrome browsers or on my iPad using Safari or Mozilla, the top row and the first two horns on the second row do not respond to clicking. (on windows the cursor gives the picture the finger if it can be clicked on, and doesn't for those five pictures)

The other pictures do allow clicking and open an new window.

Hope this helps.
