Has anyone had experience using the Dawn Powerspray for trumpet internal cleaning?

the Powerspray seems to de-grease pots and pans really well, and would probably work well on a horn, but unsure of the safety on a horn lacquer.

thanks!

Not quibbling, just want to get it right. Do you mean Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray and not Dawn Powerspray?

Yes, Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray.

My thought was I could disassemble the trumpet, spray the pistons, the valve cases and tubing and quickly snake and rinse.

This would take less time than soaking, snake and rinse and be a bit more effective.

Thanks!

I know that they use Dawn (regular) at Jim Becker's shop at Osmun Music. You might give them a call to get a "horse's mouth" answer.

Why don't you use a good old method- just put your horn into bath with hot water and a bit of soap and to use horn brush? I think it is much safer than to use chemistry.

Hot water is something people use to remove vintage lacquer so it might not be safer than chemistry.

In my opinion warm water is a better choice if the horn is lacquered, and limited time in the water. Ymmv
