Probably from the late 50's. Beautiful player! Silver.. That's all I know. Asking for a friend. He thought it might be a very early Getzen. Thanks in advance for any help identifying a horn with only the initials "DEG" on the bell.

Don E Getzen, who was a family member, but not the same as the Getzen line. The instruments are made to their specs, and some are really good. Probably need to let an experienced playe or two try it and give an appraisal. Or you could, looks like you have some creds....

DEG stands for Don E Getzen, who started his own company after the Getzen company was sold and he eventually left. They contracted with various outfits to make their instruments, including Allied Supply - which was started by another Getzen brother - Robert.

So, it's not a Getzen. It's a DEG.

Thank you! He says it plays better than his Bach Strad from the late 60's-early 70's. Quite something.

Does it say anything else? "Signature" or "Signature 2000" or something like that?

The DEGs played well. Callet used them for some of his early Xlarge bore trumpets.

The British Band style cornet was really good. It appeared to be a very close copy of a 60's Besson.

Nope. 0. Zero. Nothing else. Next time I see him I'll ask the serial number, lol. Thanks guys! I told him Trumpetherald would have some valuable input.
